How the WL-001 Is Made (and Why It Matters)
From fabric to finishing, these are the details that set Weirloom apart.
Let’s be honest: most jeans on the market today are made to sell, not to last. Fast fashion. Mass production. Minimal attention to detail. Maximum marketing spin.
That’s not the case with the brands I typically feature—and it’s not the case with Weirloom.
The WL-001 is made to wear, to fade, and to hold up over time. And every choice—from the redline selvedge to the tucked belt loops—reflects that purpose.
If you’re curious about what makes these jeans worth the pre-order, here’s what goes into the WL-001 ‘Second Edition’:

Fabric First: The Fade Foundation
It all starts with the denim.
14.25 oz. Candiani selvedge, woven on vintage shuttle looms in Italy. It’s a mid-weight fabric that balances durability with comfort. And it’s made with slubby ring-spun yarns—so the surface has just enough texture to catch abrasion and fade with real contrast.
The yarns are dyed using Candiani’s Indigo Juice process. It’s a cleaner, easier-fade dyeing method that keeps the indigo close to the surface of the yarn, so less dye is used, and it fades faster with less effort.
With regular wear—and even with regular washing—these jeans break in beautifully.

Construction Details You Don’t See on Most Jeans
Mass-market jeans skip the good stuff. Not here. The WL-001 is loaded with construction details that matter:
Chain-stitched hems for that vintage roping effect and an old-school finish
Peek-a-boo selvedge on the coin pocket
Tucked belt loops that resist tearing and look clean
Blind bartacks—the slower, original way to reinforce without the flash
Button fly with selvedge facing
YKK hardware—European-made, same high quality you expect from Japan
Heavy-duty cotton pocket bags
Jacron patch (paper-based, no plastic)
Minimal external branding—just my back pocket signature. The real signature? That’s yours, written in fades.
These aren’t just aesthetic flourishes. They’re choices that improve longevity, repairability, and wear.

Why I Made It This Way
I’ve helped people buy jeans for over a decade. I’ve reviewed hundreds of pairs, consulted for brands, and worn raw denim nearly every day of my adult life.
With Weirloom, I’m building what I wish more brands offered: honest jeans with thoughtful fits, fade-friendly fabrics, and construction that prioritises performance over profit margin.
The WL-001 isn’t chasing trends. It’s here to become your go-to pair—these first editions are just the start of something more lasting.
Just 100 Pairs of the ‘Second Edition’
Like the one-washed ‘First Edition’ that launched the brand, this unwashed ‘Second Edition’ is a small, focused production—raw denim, made right, and only 100 pairs.
Pre-orders ship end of August—just in time to start strong in Year 5 of the Indigo Invitational.
Stay sharp,
Thomas
P.S. It’s our last day in Tenerife—tomorrow we’re heading home. Below is a photo dump of our second week on the island. Thanks for your patience while I’ve been off-grid. I’ll be back in action soon!
