Heavyweight Denim, Horsehide Dreams, and a (Soon) Sold-Out Tee

From rare horsehide to heavyweight denim, and something of my own

Hey denimheads,

The big news this week is a brand-new buying guide about Iron Heart jeans.

It’s one of the most recognisable names in selvedge, and this new guide covers everything you need to know before pulling the trigger on a pair.

But before we get to that, you’ve got to see this leather jacket … 🤤

Freenote Cloth’s RJ-1 Riders Jacket is already a modern classic. Franklin & Poe now have it in Maryam’s tobacco horsehide, and it’s a stunner.

The leather is 1.2 mm veg-tan, fully aniline, and tumbled for comfort—so it feels amazing from day one. Add in the custom hardware and you’ve got something that looks as good in the saddle as it does on the street.

It’s not cheap—$2,400, to be exact—but it’s the kind of piece you buy once and wear for decades. If you’ve got the budget (and a motorcycle to match), this is one for the ages.

The 21 oz., the XHS, and the UHR—faded by yours truly

So this week, I published a brand-new Iron Heart jeans guide. It walks you through the brand’s core fits and fabrics, explains what makes their heavyweight denim so wearable, and shares some of my own experiences with the jeans.

Iron Heart has built its reputation on heavyweight denim, but when you’re new to it, the line-up can feel a bit overwhelming. This guide breaks it down—fits, fabrics, and what makes the jeans different—so you can figure out which pair is right for you.

Lastly, a quick note from my own brand. The Weirloom tee has been moving faster than I expected—size L is already sold out, and M and XL are running low.

I’ll be making more, but it’ll take 6–7 weeks before they’re ready. So if you want one now, don’t wait too long.

Ps. If you’ve already got a WL-T, I’ll be sending you a survey soon.

See you next week,
Thomas
