My First-Hand Impressions of SOSO's Breaker of Legs Selvedge

33 oz. denim, a milestone for Weirloom, and an update on a winter staple.

November’s flying—and before we know it, it’s the holiday season.

That also means it’s the season for gift guides, and we have our 2025 guides in the pipeline, ready to publish within the next couple of days.

This week: 33 oz. denim from SOSO, a milestone for Weirloom, and a quick follow-up on Iron Heart’s N1 deck jacket drop.

The Breaker of Legs: SOSO’s 33 oz. Denim

There’s heavyweight denim—and then there’s 33 oz.

SOSO took things to the extreme with their ultra-heavy selvedge, and this week, I shared some first-hand impressions of the jeans they’ve nicknamed The Breaker of Legs.

This isn’t about specs for the sake of it. It’s about how this kind of denim behaves, how it’s built, and what it actually feels like to wear jeans that push the limits of what a loom—and a human—can handle.

If you’ve ever wondered what denim at the edge looks like, this one’s for you.

Meet Weirloom’s First Stockist: Brooklyn in Calgary

When I did the Weirloom pop-up at Brund back in September, I said the brand is online-first, but not online-only. I want people to be able to try the jeans on, feel the denim, see how the fits work in person.

This week, the first retailer to stock Weirloom dropped the jeans on their site!

It’s Brooklyn, the exceptionally well-curated denim and menswear shop in Calgary—a great first home for the brand beyond my own webshop. Bryan did a profile of the shop last year (he’s from Calgary, by the way), and I also have a new shop guide in the pipeline.

Weirloom isn’t a one-trick pony. Last week, I launched two new fits—Slim and Loose—on pre-order. And more jeans are coming. I’m also expecting a delivery of the T-shirt in more colours; I’ve got a shirt in final development; and I’ve been invited to show the brand at a trade show in Copenhagen this January.

For now, I’ll celebrate the milestone of announcing my brand’s first retailer. Cheers!

Still Thinking About That Iron Heart N1?

Tuesday this week was basically “Iron Heart Deck Jacket Day”.

They dropped the first winter whipcord N1 of the season—alpaca/wool lining and all the good stuff—in the original khaki colour.

Most sizes sold out almost immediately on Iron Heart’s own site. But some stockists still have it.

I could take this one home

… just pretending to be cold (you won’t be)

Brund in Copenhagen does; there was even one in my size (L), so I tried it on and snapped these photos yesterday (I’m manning the shop this weekend.)

If you need an Iron Heart N1 in your life (you do), don’t sleep on it.

Thanks for reading—see you next week.

Best,
Thomas
