Going Heavy: Double Indigo, Made-to-Fade Jackets, and a New Jeans Guide
Big fades need serious fabric—this week’s guides bring the heat (and the ounces).
As temperatures drop, heavier fabrics start pulling their weight. And this week’s updates are all about that shift.
I’m taking a closer look at SOSO’s 20 oz. Double Indigo capsule, and I’ve published a brand-new guide to the toughest selvedge jeans out there.
We’ve also updated our Raw Denim Jacket Guide with fade examples throughout—so if you’re looking to go heavy up top, you’ll know exactly what to expect.
And if you’re after something lighter but still built to last, Bryan’s rounded up two standout chambray shirts after trying nearly everything on the market.
IN PARTNERSHIP WITH SOSO
What Does a 20 oz. Double Indigo Shirt Feel Like?
That’s the question I ask in a Reel I posted today. And the short answer is: it feels like a jacket.
As part of my October partnership with SOSO, I’m taking a closer look at some of their gear. Including this shirt … or is it a jacket?
It’s part of SOSO’s new 20 oz. Double Indigo capsule, which they launched last week, and I’ve been test-wearing the shirt to see what it’s like.
With both the warp and weft dyed with indigo, the fabric starts darker, stays “cleaner”, and fades with contrast and depth.
Featuring tonal stitching and YKK Permex snaps, the sample I got feels like it was custom-made for me (though it wasn’t).
I really like the fit, the length, the roomy cuffs (that go over my watch), and the bulking effect of the sleeves—which, let’s be honest, I need.
If I were to put one together myself, I would also most definitely choose the tonal stitching like on the sample. But I might go for black hardware.

New Guide: The Toughest Heavyweight Jeans
This week, I published my deep dive into heavyweight selvedge. What it is, why it matters, and which pairs are worth the pain.
From Iron Heart and Samurai to Brave Star and Strike Gold—this one goes all the way up to 40 oz.
You can see the full guide here, but if you’re looking for the best place to start, below are my top recommendations:
• First heavyweight jeans? Play it safe with Iron Heart’s 21 oz. or Samurai’s 19 oz. Kiwami.
• Want full custom? Go with SOSO’s 20 oz. Ghost Indigo.
• Best value? Brave Star’s 21.5 oz. Gauntlet.
• Pushing your limits? The Strike Gold 24.8 oz. Extra Hard will take you there.

A Dozen Chambrays Later, We Have Two Winners!
Bryan’s spent nearly a year hunting for the perfect chambray. After trying a dozen shirts in Berlin (none of which fit), he kept searching—and finally landed on two:
Heimat’s Arbeitshemd and Big John’s Selvedge Chambray. Different builds, same result. They’re both in his rotation now.

You Only Need One Denim Jacket—Pick the Right One
Our raw denim jacket guide has been live since 2022—but this week, we gave it a major update.
Like with the Selvedge Masterlist last week, Bryan’s added faded examples of the jackets on the list. The result? A guide that doesn’t just tell you what to buy—it shows you what it can become.
Whether you’re after a fade monster, a vintage repro, or something modern and clean, this list has your one great jacket.
