Raw Proof, Raw Denim, Raw Skin

Indigo Invitational kicks off, giveaway jeans arrive, a Brund pop-up is announced, new Weirloom reels, Bluezone next week, a T-shirt shoot—and a fresh tattoo

You know those weeks where it feels like somebody hit the fast-forward button? That’s been me these past few days:

  • Shipping jeans

  • Chasing deadlines

  • Starting contests

  • Planning events (announcing one below 😉)

  • … and even squeezing in a tattoo session 🐉

If last week was all about wrapping things up, this week has been about starting things:

The Indigo Invitational has kicked off; I’ve sent out more jeans—including the giveaway winners’; the first ‘What’s Weirloom’ videos have been posted; and a Brund pop-up is on the calendar. Next week, it’s Bluezone in Munich. I even have a Weirloom new product—and a new tattoo—to show you.

But before I get into it, a quick welcome if you’re new here—and especially to those of you who joined through last week’s giveaway. Glad to have you on board.

Indigo Invitational Year 5: The Race Is On

Wednesday this week, Bryan revealed the #rawproof hashtag for Year 5 of the Indigo Invitational.

That means the guns are off and the race is on. I thought the “official” start was September 1, but you can actually start wearing your jeans now!

The world’s biggest fade contest is underway, and I’ve been gearing up for it myself. Expect more from me on Denimhunters and Weirloom in the weeks ahead.

Giveaway Winners and Weekend Orders Shipped

Speaking of the Invitational. If you read last week’s newsletter, I guess you’ve seen that I did the Weirloom giveaway together with Indigo Invitational.

Five winners were picked, and their jeans went out on Monday—along with all the other orders from the weekend.

Three of the five have already got theirs. The two UK winners should be pulling theirs on right around the time you’re reading this.

Weirloom Pop-Up at Brund, Copenhagen (Sep 11–13)

This is the big announcement of the week: Weirloom is going offline—we’re doing a pop-up in Brund!

It’s the first time you can see the jeans in person in a shop, and I couldn’t think of a better place than the store in Copenhagen, which is like like a second home to me.

“What’s Weirloom” Video Series: Two Episodes Live

The first two videos in my new “What’s Weirloom” series that we shot a couple weeks ago are now live.

The first one is about the name. The second one is about the Candiani denim I chose.

Go follow Weirloom on Instagram (if you don’t already) to stay in the loop.

Next Week: Bluezone in Munich

Next week I’ll be in Munich for Bluezone.

I’ll be there Tuesday and Wednesday, checking out the new setup, meeting with the new management, and doing a presentation.

I plan to write a review while I’m there, so you’ll (probably) see that in next week’s newsletter.

If you’re planning to go—or still considering it—and you haven’t read my preview of the upcoming show you, do it now! 😉

Behind the Scenes: Shooting Weirloom’s First T-Shirt

Today I met up with my good friend, mentor, and photographer, Brian (@oddhunt), to shoot Weirloom’s second product: a T-shirt.

They’re already made—not a pre-order—and they’re sitting right here with me. Stay tuned!

Personal Note: A New Tattoo (and a New Habit?)

And because these newsletters always seem to end with something personal, I wanted to share that I also somehow managed to find time to get a new tattoo this week.

It was my birthday present from my wife and kids. My birthday was a month ago, while we were in Tenerife.

I got to choose between a new pair of AirPods (desperately needed) or a tattoo. It’s been 12–13 years since my last one, so I went with ink.

It feels good to be back under the needle. Okay, catch you next week—it’ll be another big one.

Thanks for reading,
Thomas
