Back to What You Signed Up For
Chambray shirts, updated guides—and no more Weirloom launch talk (okay, maybe a little).
What is up, denim people?!
Let me start with an announcement: This isn’t another email solely about Weirloom. We’re back to regular Denimhunters content: buying guides, denim care tips, that sort of thing.
Still, I want to say a heartfelt thank you to everyone who pre-ordered a pair of my ‘First Edition’ WL-001 Weirloom jeans. The pre-order’s closed, but you can still secure yourself a pair from stock. (Oh, and there’s a Second Edition in the pipeline! It’ll drop end-of-July, and if you only wear raw denim, well, stay tuned for that.)
But this newsletter is just as much for those of you who haven’t bought a pair of jeans from me (… yet 😜).
I try to put myself in your shoes—well, jeans in this case (couldn’t resist that one 😂). I’m also subscribed to several newsletters myself, and I’m very aware that even a slight pivot like this might get you to question if this newsletter is still for you.
That said, I genuinely believe Weirloom is relevant, because it’s the natural evolution from Denimhunters for me. I’m pouring my heart and head into this, and I appreciate your support 💙

Chambray Shirts: My Short List (Now Yours)
We just published a detailed guide to what we believe are the 10 best indigo chambray shirts on the market right now.
Chambray’s a fabric I’ve loved for years—lighter and more breathable than denim, but still unmistakably rugged. Ideal for summer, but versatile enough for year-round wear.
And no, it’s not denim. That’s one of the first things we clear up in the guide. Chambray is plain weave, not twill. It’s softer, airier, and wears differently. Perfect with faded jeans. Perfect on its own.
Here are three personal standouts from the list:
Iron Heart 10 oz. Work Shirt – Big surprise, right? I have the western version now, but I used to own the work shirt cut too (sold it—not quite my fit).
Tellason Clampdown – I’ve handled this one a few times, and it’s definitely on my list. Milled in Japan, sewn in San Francisco, and built for hard wear.
Buzz Rickson’s WWII Repro – This one’s likely to end up in my wardrobe someday. Metal buttons, military details, and just the right amount of nerdy heritage accuracy.
I’ve also got an old LVC Sunset chambray I still wear, plus an A Vontade shirt I picked up in Tokyo that I absolutely love. And a few more (obviously).
Washing Raw Denim in 2025 (Updated Guides)
I’ve quietly started refreshing some of the site’s cornerstone content. First up: the denim washing guides, my fit guide, and the Denim .
Some of these were getting close to a decade old. And this is their first major update—so I’ve tried to bring them into 2025.
A little less wordy. Easier to follow. Still detailed. Still nerdy. Just a little more structured and (hopefully) easier to digest.
Here are some of the guides I’ve updated this week:
I’ll continue to update guides over the coming weeks. Hopefully, you (and Google) will like what I’m doing. (Seriously, if you have inputs and feedback, I’m all ears.)
Have a wonderful Friday and weekend ☺️
Best,
Thomas
