A Denim-Like Flannel, High-Rise Jeans, and an Ode to Japanese Selvedge

Inside the Brund x Iron Heart flannel launch, wide-leg denim trends, and Realign’s latest tribute

It’s been another great (and very busy) week here at DH HQ. I’m starting to like the sound of that, the DH HQ—even if it’s just a fancy way of saying I’m working from my home office. 😄

The highlight of the week was the long-anticipated launch of the Brund x Iron Heart 20th Anniversary Ultra Heavy Flannel shirt—and what a launch it was!

On Wednesday, we had a fantastic dinner with Alex and Graham from the IHUK team. By Thursday, it was all hands on deck for the actual launch event, and it didn’t disappoint 🚀

The first delivery pretty much sold out before the party was even over. We could’ve easily sold a dozen more (especially those coveted XLs and Ls that flew off Brund’s online shelves in the first hour). But no worries—Alex and his team managed to dig up some spare stock.

At the time of writing, all sizes (M to XXXXL) are in stock—just keep in mind that Brund doesn’t ship outside the EU. Any unsold shirts will be available on Iron Heart’s webshop for international orders by the end of next week.

Speaking of Iron Heart, the Burg & Schild x Iron Heart all-black N1 deck jacket is another collab I had to mention. It’s so good that even though it launched just last week, the only size left is XXXL!

In other denim news, earlier this week we posted a guide to high-rise selvedge jeans—most of them with wider cuts. Coincidentally, our friends at Heddels also dropped a guide to wide-leg jeans this week, and there’s definitely some overlap. Seems like “high and wide” is what all the cool kids are into these days.

Between the flannel frenzy and other fun happenings, I managed to squeeze in a few interesting meetings, and I’ve just put out an article about the new Realign collection.

BUYING GUIDE

Variety is, so they say, the spice of life. This doesn’t only apply to denims or even brands. We should also experiment with different cuts.

Even if you’re confident that slim-fitting, lower-rise selvedge is the best fit for you, you might be missing something by sticking to jeans that have all been cast in the same mold.

Generously cut pairs with waistbands closer to your navel can open style doors that might otherwise be closed to you. You can dress the jeans up or down in ways that simply aren’t possible with lower-rise pairs.

If you want to experiment with tucked-in looks of any kind, there’s no way around it. You need a higher-rise pair. Comfortable, flattering, and stylish, the pairs featured in our new guide have the power to radically transform your selvedge style.
