Gustin’s Selvedge Line-Up, Iron Heart Hype, and Consulting News

Your weekly dose of denim updates and insider news from the world of raw denim.

Another good and busy week at DH HQ. (I suppose I can call my home office/denim cave an HQ, at least it’s where I run everything from.)

We’ve just published a new guide to an exciting selvedge brand that is worth the wait. Plus I have some updates about my consulting business.

BUYING GUIDE

For a few weeks now, we’ve had a buying guide to Gustin in the works. This week, Bryan put it all together, and it’s now live on the site.

Gustin is a denim brand like no other. Their crowdsourcing model not only reduces overproduction in the denim industry but also offers customers a unique selection of selvedge denims, including some truly experimental fabrics.

Because they only produce what’s pre-sold, and as a DTC (Direct-to-Consumer) brand—meaning no middleman—their price points are far lower than department store alternatives. Seriously, where else can you get Japanese selvedge denim, cut and sewn in the US, for as little as $109?!

In the guide, we spotlight our top five Gustin fabrics and discuss their three core fits.

UPCOMING NEW RELEASE

Teasing a Special Brund Collab with Iron Heart!

This week, I also worked on some content for a very exciting upcoming collaboration with one of Japan’s heavyweight brands: Iron Heart.

We’re talking, of course, about a special edition Ultra Heavy Flannel (UHF). Peter has already shared the sneak peek below on Instagram, but that’s all you’ll get for now!

The shirt drops on October 10, and Alex and Graham from the IHUK team are heading to Copenhagen for a special event. A few spots are still left on the guest list, so if you’re keen to attend and grab one of these beauties, RSVP to [email protected] today.

EVENT

Still a bit Hungover after the Iron Heart Party in Gosport!

Speaking of Iron Heart, what a wild party it was in Gosport last week.

I went with the Brund team. It was supposed to be all four of us, but at the last minute, both Henrik and Peter had to drop out. That left just Mikkel and me, the “young guns.” When Alex joked that we’d have to drink for two, I took it very seriously… maybe a bit too seriously.

Let’s just say I ensured that everyone remembered me by the time I stumbled back to the Airbnb!

CONSULTING

Last but not least, I visited my consulting client, ONLY, this week.

Some of you probably already know that besides running Denimhunters, I also work as a freelance consultant. Since 2018, my main consulting client has been ONLY, part of the BESTSELLER group, and a dominant player in their sector.

My contract with them has been on fixed terms. But from October 1, we’ll shift to a project-based arrangement. This means I now have a few open slots in my schedule for new consulting projects.

To learn more about my services, you can check out my LinkedIn. If we’re not already connected, send me a request—you can never have too many ‘blue blooded’ friends! 💙

If you’ve got a project in mind, feel free to book a call with me.
